Malone Hands Tigers Loss in Volleyball Opener

CANTON, Ohio – Mallory Adams and Faith Lau combined for 25 kills as Malone University defeated West Alabama, 3-0, in college women's volleyball Friday at the Hall of Fame City Challenge. Malone defeated the Tigers in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-13.

The Pioneer win spoiled the season opener for West Alabama. Malone improved to 2-0 with the victory. West Alabama is scheduled to play Northwood University at 7 p.m. tonight in its second match of the tourney.

Adams led all attackers with 14 kills, posting a .462 hitting percentage. Lau had 11 kills for Malone and Cathryn Miller had 31 assists. The Pioneers had a .268 team attack percentage and had five service aces.

Taylor Donato and Briana Sandifer had nine kills apiece for West Alabama, followed by Taylin McCarver with seven. Kassie Till had 19 assists for the Tigers, whose attack percentage was .142. UWA had just one service ace.
