Tigers Sign JUCO Righty

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Kellen Spann, who played his junior college baseball at both Meridian Community College and Mississippi Delta Community College, has signed to continue his college pitching career at the University of West Alabama.
 
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-hander from Meridian, Mississippi appeared in 12 games as a sophomore at Mississippi Delta. Working 11 games as a reliever, Spann threw 40 innings, posting a 2-2 record with a 5.63 earned run average. He struck out 43 and walked 12.
 
Spann made one appearance at MCC as a freshman, working one inning, allowing a hit and a run while striking out one and walking two. The Eagles made an appearance in the Region XXIII championship game with Spann on board.
 
Playing his prep baseball at Clarkdale (Miss.) High School, Spann was named to the MHSAA All-State team and was selected to the Premier Preps team of East Mississippi.
 
Over his pitching career at Clarkdale High School, Spann was 16-4 with a 2.55 ERA. He was 8-1 with a 1.45 ERA while striking out 56 in 48.1 innings pitched as a senior.
