Lobenstein Resigns as UWA Volleyball Coach

LIVINGSTON, Ala.Hilary Lobenstein has resigned her position as head volleyball coach at the University of West Alabama, according to an announcement today by Director of Athletics Kent Partridge. Lobenstein cited family obligations as the reason for her resignation.

"I am thankful for all of the opportunities that I have been given while coaching volleyball at the University of West Alabama," Lobenstein said. "I wish the volleyball program and the athletic department the best of luck in the future. I am grateful for the understanding and encouragement as I move on in my career."

Earning both her bachelors and master's degrees from West Alabama, Lobenstein was named head coach of the Tigers on Feb. 26, 2019. She posted a 13-52 record in two full seasons plus a shorted Gulf South Conference Spring Championship season during the COVID pandemic.

"We want to thank Hilary for her dedication and hard work with the Tiger volleyball program both as a coach and a player," Partridge said. "We wish her the very best moving forward. She will always be a Tiger."

The search for Lobenstein's replacement is underway.
