UWA Announces 2021 Fall Football Schedule

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – While renovations to Tiger Stadium are underway the University of West Alabama will host five home football games this fall, four of those in the final five weeks of the regular season.
 
The Tigers are scheduled to open the 2021 fall campaign against Morehouse College on Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. while celebrating Family Day on the UWA campus.
 
Following the home opener, the Tigers will play four games on the road in the next five weeks, beginning with a trip to Tuskegee on Sept. 11, followed by an open date and then trips to Gulf South Conference opponents Mississippi College on Sept. 25, West Georgia on Oct. 2 and Shorter on Oct. 9.
 
"What an exciting time to be a Tiger," UWA head coach Brett Gilliland said. "It's going to be great to return to playing what we hope is a normal schedule and to be able to watch as Tiger Stadium is renovated and changes for the better from week to week right before our eyes.
 
"Four road games so early in the season wouldn't normally be my preference," Gilliland said, "but it is going to work out perfectly as we revitalize Tiger Stadium."
 
Work on Tiger Stadium is expected to begin shortly after Commencement Exercises take place at the stadium on May 8.
 
UWA's Athletic Hall of Fame celebration is set for Oct. 16 when defending national champion Valdosta State comes to Tiger Stadium. Induction recognition for the 2020 Hall of Fame Class and special recognition for the 1971 national champion Tigers is set to take place in honor of the 50th anniversary of that achievement.
 
Delta State visits Livingston for 2021 Homecoming on Oct. 23. Delta State will be the opponent and kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
 
Following a final GSC road trip to North Greenville on Oct. 30, the Tigers close the regular season with GSC home games against West Florida on Nov. 6 and a rematch with Mississippi College on Nov. 13. Kickoff for the games against the Argonauts and the Choctaws are set for 1 p.m.
