Football Rises to No. 15 in AFCA Poll

WACO, Texas – After a thrilling victory over Mississippi College, 31-28, to open conference play, the West Alabama football team has improved to No. 15 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Tigers are now 4-0 this season and enter week five undefeated.

This weekend, UWA will take on conference-rival West Georgia (4-0), who is undefeated after defeating Shorter, 56-0. The Wolves broke the top-10 on the poll and currently sit at No. 9.

On the poll, other Gulf South Conference competitors include defending national champion West Florida (3-0), ranking No. 1 after a canceled game at the University of Fort Lauderdale, and Valdosta (3-0), who had a bi-week and is ranked No.4.

This week, Delta State (2-2) fell out of the top-25 after falling to Division I rival Jackson State University, 24-17.

Northwest Missouri State at No. 2, Ferris State at No.3, and Colorado School of Mines at No. 5 round out the top-5 teams.

There are four newcomers in the poll this week, with the highest-ranked being Truman State, who enters at No. 18 thanks to its 38-35 upset victory over then-No. 12 Tiffin. The Bulldogs were last ranked on November 18, 2019. Harding re-enters the poll at No. 23 while Bentley and California (Pa.) make their first appearances at No. 24 and No. 25t, respectively.

The entire week four poll can be found on the AFCA website.
