LIVINGSTON, Ala. – D2Football.com recently released its 2021 Elite 100, and West Alabama football players Chris Terrell and Tyriq Martin were among those honored.
Terrell received his fifth postseason honor as he was named to the 2021 Elite 100 Second Team. A graduate student from Pensacola, Fla., the defensive end played his final two seasons of collegiate football as a member of the UWA football team. During the fall 2021 season, he played and started in all 11 games to record 41 solo tackles and eight tackle assists. He also had 14.0 tackles for a loss of 50 yards, 7.0 sacks for a loss of 34 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, nine quarterback hurries, one pass break up, and one blocked kick.
For his efforts this season, Terrell has been named to the All-GSC Team, All-Super Region Two Team, AFCA Division II Coaches All-American Team, and has been honored as a Cliff Harris Award Finalist.
Martin, a senior wide receiver from Goose Creek, S.C., was named to the Elite 100 Squad. The Tiger veteran has been a West Alabama football team member for his entire collegiate career. This season, Martin has played and started in all 11 games to record 62 receptions for 981 yards and nine touchdowns.
With one year of eligibility left, Martin ranks fourth on the Tigers All-Time Receiving Yards List, playing in 36 games across his career for 152 receptions, 2,137 yards, and 22 touchdowns. He recently received an invite to the Cajun All-Star Bowl in Beaumont, Texas, and was named to the 2021 All-GSC Team.
The D2Football.com Elite 100 was selected by the staff of D2Football.com with input from coaches, scouts, media, and sports information directors from around the country.

The West Alabama football team finished the 2021 season 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the Gulf South Conference in its eighth season under the direction of head coach Brett Gilliland.
