UWA Women's Soccer Releases 2022 Schedule

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's soccer has released the 2022 regular season schedule that has 16 matches and five against teams that competed in the 2021 NCAA Division II Tournament last season.
 
"Our schedule will be extraordinarily tough, however a challenge we are excited for as a team," head women's soccer coach Graeme Orr said.  
 
West Alabama will open the season on Aug. 26 at Columbus State, who was the No. 1 seed out of the Southeast region last season. The Tigers will then play on Aug. 28 against Edward Waters University at Columbus State.
 
"Opening at Columbus State is going to provide our young team with the experience needed to compete in the Gulf South Conference," Orr said. "As a coach you want to improve the players and qualify for postseason each year however, we are mindful and respect the depth of talent in our league. We are grateful of the opportunity to compete in the GSC and we are going to be ready to have fun,"
 
UWA will play 13 straight Gulf South Conference matches beginning Sept. 9 at Spring Hill at Library Field.
 
The Tigers will have six home matches during the 2022 season with the first match on Sept. 11 against West Florida who was a No. 3 seed in the South Region last season. A week later, UWA will welcome Alabama Huntsville to Tiger Stadium. Both matches will kickoff at 1 p.m.
 
Coach Orr's squad will play at Delta State on Sept. 23 and at Mississippi College on Sept. 25 in a rematch of the 2021 GSC Tournament quarterfinals, where the Tigers advanced on penalty kicks. 

West Alabama will have its final home matches on Oct. 14 against Valdosta State at 5 p.m. The final home match will be against West Georgia on Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
 
UWA will close the regular season on Oct. 21 at the defending GSC Tournament Champions against Lee and at Shorter on Oct. 23.  
 
The 2022 GSC Tournament will begin on Oct. 30 at the pitch of the higher seed. The semifinals and championship matches will be played in Huntsville, Alabama on Nov. 4 and 6.
