LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Following a strong postseason run to the Gulf South Conference Semifinals, Mikaela Carpino and Selis Demirci of the University of West Alabama women's soccer team have been named to the 2025 GSC All-Tournament Team, the league office announced.
Carpino and Demirci were instrumental in leading the Tigers to a quarterfinal victory over Delta State and a hard-fought battle against top-seeded West Florida in the semifinals.
Carpino delivered a standout tournament performance on both ends of the field. She played all 90 minutes in UWA's 2–1 quarterfinal win over Delta State, helping control possession and tempo through the midfield. In the semifinal matchup against West Florida, she again went the full 90 minutes and generated consistent attacking pressure, recording three shots, all three on frame, forcing UWF's goalkeeper into key saves. Her work rate, creativity, and ability to push the attack made her one of the most influential players on the field throughout the tournament.
Demirci continued her impressive postseason form with major contributions in both matches. She played all 180 minutes across the Tigers' two tournament games. In the win over Delta State, she tallied one goal and one assist, directly factoring into both UWA scores. Against West Florida in the semifinals, Demirci remained a dangerous presence up top and attempted two shots battling one of the conference's toughest defenses.
Demirci's combination of pace, precision, and relentless effort proved vital in propelling UWA to the semifinal round for the first time since 2023.
