Bice Joins UWA Football Coaching Staff

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- Devin Bice, with nearly a decade of coaching experience and playing experience as a student-athlete, will join the West Alabama football coaching staff for the upcoming 2022 season in charge of the offensive line.

"We are thrilled to have Devin, Holly, and their children join the Tiger family and Livingston community," head coach Brett Gilliland said. "They are going to be tremendous assets to our program. He will coach our offensive line with great knowledge and passion, but more importantly help mold young men and equip them for success in life."

Bice spent the past year as the offensive line/run game coordinator at Centre College in Kentucky. He was named to the FootballScoop's 2022 Minority Watch List/Rising Stars. Helped lead a team that led the conference in sacks allowed and were second in rushing offense (over 200 yards per game).

The 2020 season saw Bice with North Carolina State University serving as the defensive line graduate assistant coach. He assisted with all areas of the defensive line and was part of a defense that ranked 15th nationally in tackles for loss and 35th nationally in team sacks.

Prior to breaking into the collegiate coaching world, Bice had a few opportunities at the prep level. He began his career in 2014 coaching the offensive and special teams coordinator at Holmes County High. From there he went to Nease High becoming the offensive line and head JV coach for the 2017-19 seasons. His final stop in prep coaching was in 2019 at Creekside High serving at the tight ends and head JV coach.

"I am so excited to be a part of West Alabama football and this incredible coaching staff. UWA has a rich tradition of developing players on and off the field," Bice said. "My wife Holly and three beautiful kids play a huge role in my life and coming to Livingston was a no brainer because now we are closer to where our family is from in Bonifay, Fla. Coach Gilliland played a major factor in my decision to come to West Alabama because of his passion for his faith, family, and this University."

Bice was a three-year letterwinner during his playing days at The Citadel starting at left tackle and tight end. He graduated in the top 25 percent of his class while earning a Bachelor of Science in health, exercise and sport science. Bice went on to earn a Master of Science in sports management from Jacksonville University. Bice added a Graduate Certificate in sport and entertainment venue management from North Carolina State University.
