Tigers Collected 13 Top-10 Finishes at the Mississippi College Opener

CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama men's and women's track teams collected a total of 13 top-10 finishes at the Mississippi College Opener on Saturday at James E. Parkman Track.

UWA had 13 Tigers compete on the women's side, collecting seven of the 13 top-10 finishes. Kaitlin Hill collected a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash. She crossed the finish line at 11.82 seconds. Hill also placed first in the 200-meter dash and stopped the clock at 24.57.

Annaya Chelcy finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26 seconds. She placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and crossed the line at 25.25.

Mikia Hutchings finished ninth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.52.

Isila Apkup finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.28. Apkup also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.32.

Kirsten Eason finished ninth in the 800-meter dash and stopped the clock at 2:30.76.

The men collected six of the 13 top-10 finishes. Lawrence Walker Jr. finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.29 seconds.

In men pole vault, Reed Robinson finished ninth with a time of 3.65. In men's long jump, Devaunce Norman finished ninth as well, with a time of 6.42. Norman placed fifth in men's triple jump with a leap of 12.71 meters.

Brayden Harris finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.08. The 4x400-meter relay team finished with a time of 3:34.49and place 10^th.

The Tigers next meet is March 17 at Hutsell-Rosen Track for the Tiger Classic. The first event is at 8 a.m.
