Women’s Rodeo Take First Place at Ranger Rodeo, Men Place Fourth

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The West Alabama men's and women's Tiger Wranglers competed in the Ranger Rodeo, that was hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College, Thursday through Saturday.

"The women finished what they started," head coach Daniel Poole. "We are extremely proud of every one of them for the year they had."

The West Alabama women compiled 565 points, finishing in first-place. The Tiger men scored 2225 points to place fourth.

Raven Clagg collected two top-five finishes. Clagg accumulated 85 points, placing fourth in breakaway roping. She finished third in barrel racing, accumulating 105 points.

Heather McLaughlin accumulated 140 points in goat tying, finishing in second-place.

The Matthew sisters dominated in barrel racing. Jaylie Matthews finishing in second-place, accumulating 140 points. Taycie Matthews finished fourth, accumulating 95 points.

Tiger Wrangler, JT Ellison had a strong performance in steer wrestling walking away with first place finish.

Clay Livengood accumulated a total of points, finishing with a second-place finish.

"The men competed more up to our capabilities this semester," Poole said. "We will miss the the ones who wont be with us next year."
