Tigers Collected 21 Top-10 Finishes at Mobile Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. - West Alabama men's and women's track and field teams collected a total of 21 top-10 finishes at the Mobile Invitational Saturday afternoon at the University of South Alabama Track Complex.
 
Sprinter Kaitlin Hill dominated on the track in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.81, placing first. Mikia Hutchings joined Hill in sprints. Hutchings finished third in the 100-meter dash and crossed the line at 12.22.
 
Three Tigers competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in the top three. Annaya Chelcy stopped the clock at 24.75, finishing in first place. Isila Apkup finished second, stopping the clock at 24.96. Hutchings finished third with a time of 25.64.
 
Apkup also finished second in the 400-meter dash stopping the clock at 57.15. Mikeibra Morris finished seventh with a time of 1:01.91. Jailah Swain finished right behind Morris, stopping the clock at 1:01.95.
 
Kirsten Eason finished third in the 800-meter run, stopping the clock at 2.32.01. Faith Jepchirchir finished fourth with a time of 2.36.49.

The four Tigers, Hill, Hutchings, Chelcy, and Apkup, dominated in the 4x100 meter relay, stopping the clock at 47.46 and walking away with a first-place finish.
 
Kayley Key competed in the 5000-meter run and finished sixth, stopping the clock at 23:38.45.
 
On the men's side, two Tigers ran the 800-meter run, Matthew Brown finished fifth, crossing the line with a time of 2:03.68. Gary Mata finished the 800-meter dash with a time of 4:22.45 finishing 10th.
 
Lawrence Walker collected two top-10 finishes. Walker finished second in the 100-meter dash, stopping the clock at 11.09. Walker finished seventh in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line with a time of 22.21.

Tiger Devaunce Norman also collected two top-10 finishes. Norman finished sixth in long jump and eighth in triple jump.
 
Reed Robinson finished fifth in pole vault.
 
Dancan Kibet dominated in the 3000-meter steeple with a time of 10:09.63.
 
Audrick Pyronneau finished second in the 5000-meter run, crossing the line with a time of 15:18.29.

The Tigers return to action on Friday as they compete in the Berry Field Day at the Clark Track and Dickey Field, in Mount Berry, Georgia.
