LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football team fell to No.18 in this week's AFCA Division II Coaches Poll.
West Alabama drops eight spots to No.18 after suffering a 21-6 road loss to Delta State on Saturday. Besides a pair of explosive plays that led to DSU touchdowns, UWA's defense played well in the loss, forcing the Statesmen to punt the ball nine times. The Tigers' defense remains in the top-10 in a handful of defensive categories such as first downs allowed and third down conversion defense. Individually,
Trevon Lambert holds the conference lead and ranks fifth in the country with 6.5 sacks while
Elijah Guyton holds steady as the league's leading scorer with 51 total points this season.
In this week's Poll, West Alabama is joined by Gulf South teams, No.2 Valdosta State, No.23 West Florida, and No.24 Delta State.
No.18 UWA now turns their attention to Chowan as they are set to host the Hawks on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on Homecoming Weekend.
