West
Alabama has struggled offensively with a hitting percentage of .050, recording 552 kills and 454 errors over 1,954 attempts this season. The team averages 8.6 kills per set but has faced difficulties with efficiency and consistency. Key players like Jaida
Alvin (133 kills) and Peyton
Quesnel (97 kills) must perform competently to challenge Montevallo's defense.
Defensively, West Alabama averages 10.8 digs per set, led by
Maggie Roddam with 172 total digs and
Taylor Lamontagne with 101. At the net, the team has accumulated 83 blocks, with
Gracie Pierscinski and
Gracie Huver leading the way in block assists.
Conversely, Montevallo enters with a more efficient attack, boasting a .164 hitting percentage and averaging 11.4 kills per set. Nikol Antova has been their offensive leader, racking up 263 kills this season. Supported by Claire Hayes and Danielle Greene, Montevallo's balanced attack will test the Tigers' defense.
In addition to their solid attack, Montevallo also holds a slight advantage in service aces (126) and blocks (149.5 total blocks). Their defense, led by Ava Wind with 310 digs and Nikol Antova with 161 digs, has kept them competitive in tight matches throughout the season.
Limiting attack errors and improving their hitting percentage for West Alabama will be crucial against Montevallo's solid defensive setup. Strong serving and better efficiency at the net will be vital if they hope to disrupt Montevallo's rhythm and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Tuesday's Dig Pink matchup between the Tigers and Falcons is set for 6:00 p.m. at Pruitt Hall.
