CLINTON, Miss. - The University of West Alabama Women's Cross Country team took home some hardware at the GSC Championships on Saturday as
Kayley Key was named the GSC Champion Scholar Athlete.
At each GSC Championship Tournament, the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point-average among teams participating shall be recognized. A minimum of 48 credit hours must be completed at the institution in order to be nominated for the award, and the GPA is based on the most recently completed term.
Key, a native of Wetumpka, Alabama, has accumulated a perfect 4.00 GPA in 124 credit hours over the course of her collegiate career, majoring in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
In her athletic career, the senior has been a catalyst for the Tigers, competing in both cross country and track and field. Key closed out her cross country career on Saturday, crossing the finish line with a 29:10.1 time in the 6K event.
