14 Tigers Named All-GSC

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football team was recognized by the conference for their historic 2024 regular season on Wednesday as 14 players were named to the All-GSC team.

First Team
Lambert and Stanford headline the group of 14 as the duo arguably put together the best stat lines on a UWA defense that stands as one of the best in the nation. At the regular season's end, Lambert is the country's sack per game leader, registering 1.1 sacks per game. The graduate edge rusher has recorded a total of 11.0 sacks this season which puts him third with the two players ahead of him having one more game played than Lambert. As for Stanford, he's been one of the leaders on the Tigers' defense for years now and picks up his second consecutive First Team All-GSC selection after recording 55.0 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and three QBs hurries.

Along with Lambert and Stanford, Jackson, Gray, and Sigler also dominated on the defensive side of the ball for West Alabama, turning in the best season of their respective careers. Offensively, Bass secures his second All-GSC selection after being on the second team in 2022. The Tight End leads the team and all Tight Ends in the conference with six receiving touchdowns this season along with 30 catches and 283 yards. On the O-Line, Jones Jr. was an anchor in both pass protection and run blocking. On the ground, Jones Jr. played a large part in UWA averaging 186.2 rushing yards per game which ranked second in the conference.

The Tigers picked up two First Team selections on Special Teams in Guyton and Taylor. Guyton has been one of, if not, the best place kickers in the country this season, converting on 15 of his 17 field goals for a .882 percentage which leads the nation. The redshirt sophomore has scored 76 points this season, ranking second in the league. As for Taylor, he earns a spot in the Utility position for all of the work he's done on Special Teams this season.

Second Team
Naylor headlines the Second Team for UWA as the Linebacker earns his first All-GSC selection. Naylor currently leads West Alabama and sits second in the conference in tackles with 69, securing six or more tackles in seven games this year.

Within the Defensive Backs, Issac Williams joins Gray as an All-GSC selection. SImilar to Gray, Williams recorded a team-high three interceptions this season, returning one for a touchdown, along with recording 50 tackles which leads all DBs on the team.

On the opposite side of the ball, Binion and Newton were producers for the Tigers, resulting in an All-GSC nod. Binion leads UWA and ranks seventh in the league with 516 receiving yards on 40 catches and five touchdowns. For Newton, he's the captain on the Offensive Line for West Alabama and has led the Tigers' O-Line group to be one of the best in the conference.

Sullivan rounds out the Tigers' in the All-GSC selections, earning a second team nod after winning the GSC Special Teams Players of the Week three times this season. Sullivan punted the ball 46 times and recorded 1,845 yards this year for an average of 40.1 yards per punt. The graduate student pinned the opposing team inside their own 20 12 times while recording punts of 50 or more yards six times.
