HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Before the ball was kicked at the GSC Semifinal game between West Alabama and West Florida, UWA's Aileen Charles was named the GSC Champion Scholar Athlete.

At each GSC Championship Tournament, the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point-average among teams participating shall be recognized. A minimum of 48 credit hours must be completed at the institution in order to be nominated for the award, and the GPA is based on the most recently completed term.

Charles has been a leader on and off the field for the Tigers since she arrived on campus in 2021. Throughout her career, the senior has played in 69 games, starting in 65 of them. Charles has scored 12 goals in her career and in 2025, has accumulated a career-high 1,453 minutes. The forward has been an important piece to a UWA team that has completed a tremendous turnaround in 2025. 

In the classroom, Charles is a Finance major and currently holds a perfect 4.00 GPA. The senior is set to graduate with her Bachelor's Degree after a tremendous career on and off the pitch.
