LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama's Indoor Track and Field Season is off to a fast start as Dedric Hicks was named the GSC's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

Hicks was a standout performer in the Shot Put event in his inaugural season as a Track Athlete last year and carried that momentum into the Indoor Season. At the Birmingham Icebreaker this past Friday, Hicks won the Shot Put event with a throw of 16.64m. That mark also broke the School Record by 0.35m in which Hicks set at the Georgia Tech Invitational last season with a throw of 16.29.

The senior now holds the top two spots in school history as he continues to stamp his name as one of the greatest Field Athlete's the Tigers have ever seen.

Hicks and UWA will be back in action on January 17 for the Samford Open in Birmingham, AL.
