LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's and Women's Tennis programs were recognized for their Academic achievements by the ITA on Thursday as both teams were named ITA All-Academic.
Along with this accomplishment, Men's Tennis' Alejandro Flores, Tomas Almeida, Jacob Tapia, Francisco Oliveira, Vilislav Bonev, Federico Iturbe, and Afonso Portugal and Women's Tennis' Emiri Takanishi, Lolita Hukasian, and Valentina Mutilba were all named Scholar Athletes.
In order to be named ITA All-Academic, you must have a team GPA of 3.2 or higher. To be recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete, you must hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the current academic year.
"It is nice to see the tennis players recognized for academic performance," said head coach Jeff Beaman. "We're looking to keep the grades up for the men and women this season while returning the men's program to where we should be with athletic performance."
