LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After leading the University of West Alabama Football team to a 38-28 win over the Chowan Hawks this past Saturday, Spencer Arceneaux and Austin McCready were named GSC Players of the Week.
UWA took home two of the three awards on Monday, with Arceneaux collecting Offensive Player of the Week honors while McCready picked up a Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.
On Saturday, Arceneaux arguably put together the best performance of his career. The Senior Quarterback threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 80 yards and scoring two more touchdowns on the ground. Arceneaux's four total touchdowns tied his career-high while his 261 total yards accounted for 68 percent of West Alabama's team total of 379.Â
As for McCready, he continued to show that he's a weapon for the Tigers. Against the Hawks, the punter only punted the ball twice but those two punts went a combined 93 yards, averaging 46.6 yards per kick. McCready's first punt of the game went 51 yards and pinned Chowan at their own two-yard line. The senior's second punt of the game was fair catch, resulting in UWA giving up zero punt return yards on the day.
Arceneaux, McCready, and West Alabama's will open up their home schedule on Saturday, September 13 as they welcome nationally ranked Charleston to Tiger Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.Â
