LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team's Christian Thompson was named the GSC Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Thompson earns his first weekly award as a Tiger, after leading UWA to a perfect 3-0 week with wins coming over Williams Baptist, Christian Brothers, and Union. The Birmingham native becomes the first GSC Player of the Week recipient in UWA Men's Basketball history since Shardarrion Allen won it on February 8, 2022.
On the week, the Forward averaged a double-double with 15.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game along with three total blocks on 81 percent shooting. Against Williams Baptist, Thompson recorded a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double while shooting a perfect 6-6 from the floor. The Junior followed that up, by registering a stat line of 16 points, nine rebounds, and one block on 6-7 shooting against the Bucs before closing out the week with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double against the Bulldogs.
On the season, Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game on 64 percent shooting.Â
Thompson and the Tigers will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Montgomery for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against AUM.
