LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama track and field team returns to the Birmingham Cross Plex on Saturday, February 7, to compete in the UAB Green and White Invite.
The first event is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. with the women's and men's 5000 meter run due up first. The remaining running and field events will follow.
The Tigers delivered strong performances at the Samford Open this past Saturday, with both squads recording multiple personal records and top-10 finishes against intense competition.
The men's standout performances from the previous meet included thrower Dedric Hicks' fifth-place finish and personal best throw of 16.88 meters in the shot put, and distance runner Mathis Breton also cracked the top five with a fifth-place showing in the 5,000 meters, crossing in at 15:28.46.
For the women's team, Rita Walker delivered one of UWA's top finishes of the meet by placing seventh in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:20.57, and sprinter J'Da Williams earned a sixth-place finish and set a personal record of 7.65 in the 60 meters.
With a full roster competing and confidence building from last week's performances, the Tigers look to make another statement at the UAB Green and White Invite.
