Tigers Slide in National Polls, Hold Strong in Regional Rankings

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — Following a 2-2 week to close out the regular season, the West Alabama baseball team saw movement across all three major national polls, while continuing to maintain a strong position in the regional rankings heading into postseason play.

The Tigers dropped to No. 11 in the NCBWA National Poll, No. 16 in the ABCA Coaches Poll, and No. 17 in the D2 Baseball Poll after splitting a conference series and a midweek contest in the final stretch of the regular season. Despite the slight dip, West Alabama remains firmly in the national conversation as one of the top teams in Division II.

While the national rankings shifted, the regional outlook continues to favor the Tigers. In the latest NCAA South Region Rankings, West Alabama was slotted at No. 4, positioning the program well for a potential postseason berth and hosting considerations as the NCAA Tournament approaches.

The Gulf South Conference remains heavily represented in the regional rankings, with West Florida leading the way at No. 1, followed by fellow league members Delta State (No. 5), Mississippi College (No. 6), Lee (No. 7), Trevecca Nazarene (No. 8), and Montevallo (No. 10). The depth of the conference continues to highlight the competitive landscape the Tigers have navigated throughout the season.

Additionally, West Alabama held steady at No. 2 in the NCBWA South Region Rankings for the fourth consecutive week, further solidifying its standing as one of the top teams in the region.

With the regular season now complete and the Gulf South Conference Tournament coming, the Tigers turn their attention to postseason play, looking to climb back up the national rankings while making a deep run in both the conference and NCAA tournaments.
