UWA Volleyball Releases 2020 Schedule

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Volleyball team has released its schedule for the 2020 season this fall.
 
The Tigers schedule under second year Head coach Hilary Lobenstein features 23 contests total with 14 matches against Gulf South Conference opponents.
 
"Given everything that is going on in the world right now, we are thankful for the opportunity to play," said Lobenstein. "We look forward to our road trips, and barring any health restrictions, we hope to have our home gym packed out."
 
UWA opens the season with two tournaments with the first hosted by University of Texas at Tyler the weekend of Sept. 11-12. West Alabama opens the season on the morning of Sept. 11 against Harding and play later that afternoon against Southern Nazarene. The next day, the team will face hosts UT-Tyler and St. Edwards.
 
The following weekend, the Tigers head to Millegeville, Georgia for a tournament hosted by Georgia College whom UWA will face the morning of Sept. 18 along with Francis Marion in the afternoon. The tournament concludes the following day against Augusta.
 
West Alabama opens conference play with three straight road contests against Auburn Montgomery (Sept. 25), West Florida (Sept. 26) and Mississippi College (Oct. 2).
 
Alabama Huntsville will be the first opponent in Pruitt Hall for the 2020 season as the Tigers host the Chargers in GSC action on Oct. 9 with Montevallo coming in on Oct. 10.
 
After a Tuesday road trip to Union on Oct. 13, UWA returns home for two straight against Lee (Oct. 16) and Shorter (Oct. 17). 
 
On Oct. 23, West Alabama heads to Valdosta State for GSC action and then to Carrollton, Georgia on Oct. 24 to face West Georgia. Christian Brothers will be final fresh opponent on the schedule as the Tigers will host CBU on a Tuesday, Oct. 27.
 
From there UWA will face the first five opponents in nearly reverse order with trips to UAH (Oct. 30) and Montevallo (Oct. 31) and closing the schedule with three straight home matches against Mississippi College (Nov. 6), AUM (Nov. 13) and UWF (Nov. 14).
